Just 30km away from Rome, Castel Gandolfo is a true jewel. It’s no wonder that the Pope enjoy his summers here! This little town sits on the hill that overlooks the Albano Lake, and if the sky is clear and blue the lake will look like the Caribbean sea. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating, but if there are no clouds the reflex in the water is a pretty and light blue.
Although very touristic, the town is also a good choice for the locals. There are many restaurants overlooking the lake to choose from. This little place is my favourite though. Full of pink flowers, an old bicycle and an amazing terrace to gaze at the view.
But of course, the view isn’t everything right? The food there is pretty amazing too. I had the Riccotta entrè with the fusilli blue cheese, pears and honey as a first course.
Just your typical italian “Dolce far niente” (the sweetness of doing nothing).
