I often post photos from the South of Italy during summer. I go to Calabria very often and there are some truly amazing beaches there. What most people don’t know, is that like almost all of Italian Regions, Calabria has also mountains and snow.
There’s a little town (and by little I mean really really little) called Camigliatello Silano and it’s located in the mountains of Sila, in Calabria. The city has a few hotels and restaurants, and plenty of places to buy local products like cheese (the typical is Caciocavallo Silano) and porcini mushrooms.
But the best thing is that there’s also a small ski station just a few kilometres away from the town centre. It has two slopes and it’s very easy for beginners, which is my case.
You can tell by the position of the skis on this photo the level of “professionalism” that I bring to the sport!
Nevertheless is an ideal place for a quiet weekend with plenty of snow and good food.
